Low Carbon Food Workshops

Learn how your food choices affect your carbon footprint

Sewing Classes
With local sewing expert Christine Finlayson

From the basics of getting to know your machine through to making your own clothes.  These classes can cater for complete beginners through to experienced sewers.  We will be re-using and upcycling old textiles to make new things and learning mending techniques.  No need to attend all classes. To add your name to the waiting list just drop us an email.

Bike Maintenance
Get your bike checked and fixed for free at our maintenance sessions

We are funded to deliver Bike maintenance to get your bike back on the road or trail.  

We have a stock of basic parts such as inners tubes, cables and brake pads.  We are unable to provide additional parts but can help you source them and we can fit them.

Bike Mechanic Training - Fully Booked
Get trained up by a qualified mechanic and become a bike maintenance volunteer

These sessions are now fully booked.  If you want to put your name on a waiting list in case of any drop-outs please email liz@penicuikcarbonchallenge.org

Get trained up as a bike maintenance volunteer with a qualified mechanic in return for some volunteer mechanic hours on the project.

Drop-In Upcycling For the Whole Family
Weekly craft and science themed activities aimed at primary school aged children

Family craft sessions for a main target audience of primary aged pupils and their grown-ups (please bring an adult if you're not old enough to be in public on your own as this is NOT a creche! Unattended children will be assumed to have been abandoned)

Crochet Classes
Thursday evening crochet classes with Sylvia Cairns upcycling donated wool into beautiful things!  

This class is suitable for all abilities from complete beginners to more experienced crocheters.  We will have a selection of donated wool and crochet needles available but if you want to bring your own please feel free.  No need to book all 4 classes if you don't want to.

These sessions will take place at at 34 John Street - Covid-19 measures are in place and participants will be asked to wear a mask and socially distance.
