Reuse, Reduce, Recycle Directory
Changeworks produce the Too Good To Waste directory of ways to reduce, reuse, and/or recycle products; Midlothian Council have a
directory as well...
This page is not here to replace these directories but to compliment them with practical solutions for more difficult to recyle items. Several of these places are commercial entities; we have no affiliation with any of these and where possible, we try and provide a link to multiple options.

Eyeglasses
Various optometrists will collect these for a charity which re-uses them for those in need (often far-flung countries). If your local one doesn't take them, drop them off to 34 John Street, as one of our volunteers will take them and pass them on to an African charity.

Fire Extinguisher refilling
These essential safety devices loose pressure after about 5 years of sitting in the back of your cupboard... don't get caught short and don't just bin them when you can refill them.

Hair
Attention salons and barbers and dog groomers!

We have an amazing volunteer who has offered to mend small electrical appliances and PAT test them. We will then work with other community organisations to donate them to people who need them. Items can be dropped off at 34 John Street. Please note our opening times.
Yes Please: Kettles, toaster, hi fi equipment, small TV's, lamps, other small electrical items
No Thanks: Large appliances such as cookers, washing machines, tumble driers, microwaves, foot spas, bottle sterilisers
